Updated: Aug 1, 2023

Today we remember some of the most unsung heroes in conservation.

World Ranger Day is dedicated to honoring those who physically protect our world’s species day in and day out from threats to health and wellbeing at the ecosystem level. Officially, 148 lives were lost in this honorable line of duty over the past year. This number does not include likely the considerable amounts of injuries suffered in the line of duty. Nor does it include the lives of those lost from communities who do the same vital work without official recognition. Today, take a moment to think about these brave souls and if you can, consider giving to the International Ranger Federation to help support this vital, front line conservation work.
